For anyone who doesn’t know me, I am obsessed with Dillon Francis. Aside from his range in music – moombahton to indie house and everything in between – his different internet personas are amazing, his love for Taco Bell is amazing, and overall, he is amazing.
Last night’s show was everything I could’ve asked for. I’ve been looking forward to this show for months, but to be honest I almost forgot about it. I had scheduled my GMAT for the day before yesterday – my mentality was that if I did well, Dillon would be the best reward, and if I didn’t do so well, Dillon would still be a nice consolation. In the end, it turns out that I did do well, so I was able to enjoy every part of this show.
The whole experience was, to sum it up, awesome. From the giant set to the new mixes to the guest performers featured on his album, it was all amazing. The only thing I’m bummed out about is that I wasn’t close enough to get better pictures. Next time, Dillon! Because there will absolutely most definitely be a next time.
Anyhow, this is my last 2014 event in LA! Glad I got to share it with great friends and with Dillon.
Ahhhhh!!! It’s crazy that I’ve seen this show once in LA already… seeing it this second time in New York might actually have been better.
Highlights of this show:
– Every. Single. Moment.
– Being front and center (again hehe, I can’t get over how close I was)
– Hear the Bells – Porter didn’t play this at the Shrine, and I’m so glad he played it at Terminal 5
– Waiting around with Cat after the show to meet Porter hnnnnnggggggg so surreal *✧₊✪͡◡ू✪͡
I think I will forever want to relive the Worlds tour. So, so beautiful.
Music recap 2/2 for this weekend! It’s kind of funny how Porter Robinson’s beautiful Worlds show was the night before the Mad Decent Block Party… these events could not have been any more different.
MDBP was, to sum it up really nicely, RATCHET. Pic not included, but this is where Lisa and I ordered shirts in the style of the “Thing 1 / Thing 2” shirts, replacing the words with “Thot 1” and “Thot 2”, and putting a picture of Diplo’s face instead of the Dr. Seuss character….. and we were definitely in the 99th percentile of non-ratchets in attendance.
But all scanty outfits, twerking, and sweating aside, MDBP was a lot of fun! Drove down to San Diego in the early afternoon and caught Cashmere Cat – he was great. I’d been really excited to see Diplo, but I think my favorite set was Flosstradamus (+ Waka Flocka). so. much. fun!!! The pic above is from Flosstradamus’s set – the people around us, including but definitely not limited to Wheelchair Dude above, were so into it.
Going to the afterparty may have been a little much, considering it was a Sunday night, and we were exhausted from 2 nights and 1 day of events. But we made it home in one piece (at 3 AM on Monday morning), and the Red Bull at work was definitely worth it, this was a weekend to remember!
Wow. Just… wow. This weekend was just full of awesome music – I can’t believe I successfully made it to work this Monday morning! Here are some pics from Porter Robinson’s Worlds Tour at the Shrine in LA on Saturday. Still in shock at being literally front and center for this, because I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that this was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had. I’m obsessed with what Porter’s doing with his sound now – I love that he’s doing what he loves and what makes him happy. Worlds is very possibly my favorite album of 2014, and it’s so crazy that I got to see this live show. I want to replay this show over and over again.
Pluses of this show:
– Seeing all of Staples Center light up during “No. 1 Party Anthem” (see first picture).
– “Do I Wanna Know” opening their set.
– Their THREE encore songs! “R U Mine?” was a great way to end the night.
– Their set, which was just the waves on their album cover. So minimal, and so effective.
– Alex Turner’s voice could not get any sexier.
Minuses of this show:
– Why couldn’t I have gotten a closer seat 😦
Overall, one of my favorite shows of 2014 thus far. 10/10 would do it again!
